The application process will open again 1st May 2024

The IHF Star Team Competition celebrates the next generation of superstars.

A competition for those still undergoing training and who dreams of becoming one of Irelands leading Hair Stylists.

Star Team is not solely determined by your current ability, but rather by your ambition, enthusiasm, and passion for the industry. We’ve had individuals join Star Team who were only mere weeks in the Industry…so we encourage trainees and apprentices of varying skillsets and experience to apply!

"You won’t know what you can do til you try"

Star Team applications open once per year, and have already taken place for 2023*.

How it works:

Candidates fill in an online application form in which they’ll tell us, their future ambitions and then participate in an interview with our judging panel.

Those who make a lasting impression on our judges will then be invited to the Semi Finals to showcase a Colour & Cut model before our judges whittle it down to a handful of finalists.

In the final stage of the competition, finalists are required to showcase their skills to the judges in two parts. First, they must present an upstyle and blow-dry model. Then, they proceed to the final interview with the judges, aiming to make a lasting impression.

Only five fortunate contestants will be selected to compose the Star Team, embarking on a year-long journey of exclusive Star Team only education with the finest hair stylists and educators in Ireland. This invaluable prize serves as a tremendous stepping stone for those who are launching their careers.

What does it mean to be a part of Star Team:

The application process will open again in Spring 2024.

Star Team Candidates must be either employed by a salon, taking part in the National Hairdressing Apprenticeship or in a Full Time Hairdressing Course to be able to apply.

For those who make it onto Star Team changes of employment may result in you losing your place on the team, however this will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
